"Jeet Kune Do is training and discipline towards the ultimate reality in combat.
Jeet Kune-Do is the only non-classical style of Chinese Kung Fu in existence today. It is simple in its execution, although not so simple to explain. Jeet means 'to stop, to stem, to intercept,' while Kune means 'fist' or 'style,' and Do means 'the way' or 'the ultimate reality.' In other words--'The Way of the Intercepting Fist.'"

Jeet Kune Do

As taught by the JKD-WNG

"The purpose of this group is to preserve and promote Bruce Lee's art of Jeet Kune Do, to help define and teach the core curriculum, not to confine us but to liberate us, and to discover our personal expression of Bruce's art." —Tim Tackett.

JKD is the namesake of the late Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee called it "Scientific Street Fighting". JKD introduces you to combative basics which are not designed around trends, but on the essentials of practicality. It investigates trends and other methods, without dwelling there, to see what is functional. Based on the information you develop a plan by which you can attack or set up a counteroffensive (JKD is self offense, not self defense).

The JKD practitioner is encouraged to develop their personal attributes, and overcome deficiencies. The practitioner acquires tools that are biomechanically useful, thus developing a platform to expand on.

JKD seeks to produce a thinking, effective, durable, evasive, powerful and practical combatant. The regimen contains fundamentals, deception, bio-mechanical efficacy, defined tool structure, mobile delivery systems, self projection, non-telegraphic delivery, response versus reaction, technique, skills, tactics, stratagems, combative grappling/ground solutions & principles, awareness, speed, power, and strength conditioning.
